John Miller Promoted to Group Vice President, Agricultural Products

John Miller joined BNSF in March 2008 as assistant vice president, Agricultural Products. He was named vice president, Industrial Products Sales, in November 2012, after serving as assistant vice president of that group since November 2011.

Miller will be reporting to Steve Bobb, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "John is a respected leader who has demonstrated the ability to build strong customer relationships while delivering profitable growth. He is well prepared for this important new role," said Bobb.

Before joining BNSF in 2008, he was senior group manager at TSC Container Freight, a division of The Scoular Company in Overland Park, Kan. He began his career with Continental Grain Company (CGC) in 1983 and, after successive roles with increasing responsibility, was named vice president, North American Wheat, for CGC. In 1997, Miller joined Bartlett Grain Company as executive vice president, Merchandising, responsible for all company grain trading. In 1998, he was named president, Bartlett Grain, LLC.

Miller holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.

Union Pacific names new railroad president, chief operating officer

Union Pacific Corp. named Lance M. Fritz as president and chief operating officer of its Omaha-based railroad Thursday and said Jim Young has retired from his executive duties.

Young took a leave of absence in March 2012 to undergo treatments for pancreatic cancer. Union Pacific said he retired Jan. 31 but will continue as non-executive chairman of the parent corporation. He had been president, chairman and chief executive officer of Union Pacific since 2007.

Fritz, 51, will report to Jack Koraleski, CEO of the railroad and president and CEO of Union Pacific Corp.

Fritz joined Union Pacific in 2000 as vice president and general manager of its energy group. He was named regional vice president for operations in 2006 and executive vice president for operations in 2010. Cameron A. Scott, who joined the railroad in 1991, succeeds him in that job.

Fritz is a graduate of Bucknell University and Northwestern University and worked for Fiskars Inc., Cooper Industries and General Electric before joining Union Pacific. He is a board member of United Way of the Midlands and a past board member of Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska and was program chairman for the 2013 U.S. Senior Open.

Paul Hammes will be retiring March 31 after ten years of service with Union Pacific. Paul came to UP with extensive agricultural industry experience, and has played a significant role in moving our Ag business into a vibrant, economically viable and growing business.

Jason Hess will be promoted to Vice President & General Manager Ag Products effective March 1. Jason has been with Union Pacific for 19 years and has held a number of positions in Ag Products, Industrial Products, Chemicals and the NCSC. Jason is currently Vice President of the National Customer Service Center.

Bill Eilbracht also plans to retire March 31.  Bill is a current member of the TEGMA Board of Directors and a longtime TEGMA participant and supporter. He began is railroad career 37 years ago as a management trainee with Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco, California. He held various sales positions with Southern Pacific and was Managing Director of Quality when the SP merged with Union Pacific in 1997. During his 17 year career with Union Pacific Bill has been general Director Food Products and General Director Business Planning and Integration.
